| Worcester Muster 2001 - 350th Anniversary Commemoration of the Battle of Worcester |
Say
you have been at Worcester, where England's sorrows began, and where they are
happily ended (Hugh Peters)
The Battle of Worcester on 3 September 1651 was the final battle of the English Civil War. The Fairfax Battalia was a partner in the commemoration events with Worcester City Council, organising the main re-enactment staged at the Commandery Civil War Centre. This comprised a re-creation of the part of the battle that took place at For Royal (along with Crawford's Battalia and the Oxford Company from ECWS), and a living History at the Commandery itself. The latter took over some of the static displays to provide a unique re-creation of the building as it might have been 350 years ago.
Over the coming weeks we will illustrate some of the activities that took place over the weekend.
