Leeds Castle 2006  - A Betrothal and a Battle!

In September 2006, the Fairfax Battalia and Winchester's Regiment of Foot set up a soldier's camp in the grounds of the idyllic Leeds Castle, Kent.  They provided drill displays and a skirmish based upon the battle of Maidstone in 1648.

But the event was also an opportunity for Tim and Imogen, members of the Fairfax Battalia to become betrothed in an authentic 17th century manner, presided over by Charles Kightly.

Further photos of the event can be found on the Past Image Photography web site

The 17th century betrothal was signified by an exchange of rings.

Blue favours (for constancy) were pinned on the happy couple
