A meal that went wrong!

One of the highlights of the re-enactment held at the Commandery, Worcester,  in September 2002 by the Fairfax Battalia was a formal meal in the Great Hall.  The public watched in fascination as the participants followed 17th century etiquette and were served with a variety of contemporary dishes.
It was all going so well until one of the family returned from exile to find his house not only occupied by Parliamentary troops but their officers enjoying a fine meal with the ladies of his family!!!

The public were provided with  guided tours of the meal in progress.

Then it went horribly wrong as one of the family returned from London to find his house occupied by the army.

His mood worsened as his wife explained that the house had also been looted.

The situation was then not helped when one officer drew a pistol!

Only the presence of the guard then enforced a calm.

All in all, a dramatic way to bring the Great Hall of the Commandery to life.
