At the battle of Brentford in Essex, the Parliamentary army was caught by surprise and was defeated.  The road to London was open and it seemed as though the Royalists might win a quick victory. But the citizens of London rallied and turned back the Royalist army at  Turnham Green.

Now the Parliamentary army is pounded with cannon

The Royalist infantry advance

The musketeers return fire and the battlefield quickly becomes enveloped in thick smoke

The Parliamentary army is surrounded

Casualties begin to mount

Eventually, soldiers begin to surrender

The final ignominy as a Parliamentary colour is captured

A triumphant Royalist officer with the captured colour

Depressed  Parliamentarians escape the field

...but revenge will be ours!!!
